Forest School
What is Forest School?
Forest School is an inspirational process, where children, young people and adults can learn a range of skills in a woodland environment. Participants can learn about nature, develop self-confidence and self esteem, develop a connection to and a respect for the environment, and enhance their social and personal skills. Forest School is child-centred, where children can learn through hands-on play and activities, teamwork, and problem solving.
Llyn Parc Mawr Forest School is led by Melissa, a qualified and experienced Forest School leader. We encourage messy play with our natural mud kitchen, play woodland games, create nature challenges, teach some basic bushcraft skills, and allow children to explore the woodland, make friends and learn new skills in a safe environment. We try to run sessions in all weathers, unless high winds are forecast.
Llyn Parc Pixies
Outdoor play sessions for preschool and home-educated children and parents/carers – come along with your child/ren for some mud-play, woodland games and craft activities. We might even have a fire and a nice warm drink.
There is a small charge of £3 per child to cover refreshments. Booking is essential – please click here to book.

Forest School birthday parties
We can also provide Forest School birthday parties, where children can play woodland games, do wood craft activities and fire lighting, and even fire cooking. Children can enjoy letting off steam outdoors with their friends in a safe and healthy environment.

Children will be able to make something out of wood/natural materials to take home. We will provide marshmallows or similar to toast over the fire. We can include a fire cooking activity for older children too, and we will tailor parties to the ages/abilities of the children.
You are welcome to bring a cake and any food if you’d like to provide this, just let us know and we’ll factor in time and space for this. Please note that though we can provide hot chocolate and marshmallows, party bags are not included in the price. Eco-friendly party bags can be provided at an additional cost. Please ask for further information about our eco-friendly party bags in the other relevant information box on the booking form. You are welcome to bring your own party bags, but we would like to discourage plastic waste as much as possible so we would appreciate it if you could consider the environmental impact when choosing what to buy.
